Boys’ Volleyball: South Pas Sweeps Monrovia in League Opener

The South Pasadena High School varsity boys’ volleyball team was swept at San Marino, 16-25, 20-25, 20-25, in a Rio Hondo League match on March 19. The Tigers previously swept visiting La Cañada, 25-23, 25-21, 25-23, in a league match on March 14. Individual statistics were not reported to the Review.
South Pas swept visiting Monrovia, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23, in its league opener on March 12 as senior Ian Chang racked up 24 assists, three blocks, three digs and one kill. Junior Martin Walsh finished with 11 kills, three digs, two aces and two blocks, while junior James Dowd contributed 10 kills, five blocks and four digs. Sophomore Kyle Kirchen recorded five blocks and two kills, senior Ryan Estanislao produced four digs, one kill, one ace and one assist, and junior Jacob Chuang registered three blocks, two digs and one kill. Senior Kai Munoz collected three digs and one ace, while senior Nigel Mundara was credited with four digs. Senior Isaiah Hyun chipped in one kill, while sophomore Wyatt Morimoto-Woo had one dig.
The Tigers (8-6 overall, 2-1 in league) will visit South High in Torrance on March 26 at 5 p.m. before resuming league play at Monrovia on March 28.
