Tigers Overwhelm Pasadena in Boys’ Tennis Season Opener

The South Pasadena High School varsity boys’ tennis picked up a 17-1 season-opening victory at Pasadena on Feb. 15.
The No. 1 doubles team of Zachary Lee and Christopher Wong swept with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0. The No. 2 tandem of Emett Mendel and Jean-Luc Andre swept with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, while the No. 3 duo of Max Slattery and Dylan West swept with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-3.
Tigers No. 3 singles Lucas Cornforth swept his opponents with scores of 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1, while No. 1 singles Emilio Lois won a pair of sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-1. No. 2 singles Aidan Liu won two sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-0 before his Pasadena opponent forfeited the third set.
The Tigers (1-0 overall) will host Glendora for a nonleague match on Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. before visiting Arroyo High of El Monte on March 1.
