Taste of South Pasadena Set for May 28

The 10th annual Taste of South Pasadena, presented by the Rotary Club of South Pasadena, will be held on Tuesday, May 28, from 5 to 8 p.m.
This walking event (shuttle vans are available) features cuisine from eateries and bakeries on Fair Oaks Avenue and Mission Street. Last year, more than 1,300 people came out to participate, a record for the event.
There will be live music at two locations and wine tasting from Daou, South Pasadena’s Mission Wines, the Crush Pad wines of the beloved Jones Coffee Roasters in Pasadena and South Pasadena, L.A.’s San Antonio Winery, the Paso Robles-based Shepard Collection, and a collection of small wineries and spirit vendors (additional ticket needed) and much more. The event is family-friendly and dog-friendly.
A wine tasting will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Canoe House restaurant parking lot. There will be a VIP wine tasting with wineries and spirit vendors at Canoe House for adults over 21; this event requires an additional wristband. Those in attendance can take home a commemorative wine or spirit glass while supplies last. There will be 20 wineries coming from as far away as Napa, Morro Bay and Temecula; a tequila vendor and a tequila cocktail vendor; and for the first time a sake vendor. There will also be a gin cocktails vendor and a gourmet chocolate vendor. See the website for prices.
The musicians at the wine and spirits event will be local favorites Carbe and Durand Duo (from Incendio) playing World Guitar music. Also, a strolling magician from the Magic Castle, Rich “Doc Magic” Freeman, will be there to delight and amaze attendees and provide invitations to the Magic Castle.
At the other end of the event, at the Metro Rail Plaza, will be the 2024 Pasadena Musical Act of the Year award recipients, the Nextdoors.
All proceeds go to fund the various charity endeavors of the Rotary Club of South Pasadena.
