AbilityFirst held its 40th anniversary of its Fall Food & Wine Festival on June 9.

The event was held at the lovely Urquhart residence in South Pasadena and exceeded its fundraising goal of $250,000.

Many guests and longtime clients were in attendance, including County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, state Sen. Anthony Portantino and Rep. Judy Chu.

The fundraiser honored Greg and Heba Wood for their longtime support of AbilityFirst. Anita Lawler and Mary Spellman served as the event co-chairs; committee members included Devon Anderson, Anita Besharat, Steve Brockmeyer, John Nilson, Julietta Perez, Harlan Thompson, Bill Ukropina and Melissa Wu. The emcee was Nancy Longo.

Kathryn Sanders Platnick is the board chair; Sergio Rizzo-Fontanesi is the organization’s CEO.

Bank of America and Chubb were the premier sponsors; Supervisor Barger, Longo Toyota/Lexus, East West Bank, the Fletcher Jones Foundation, and Umpqua Bank were other major sponsors.
