Arroyo Seco Woodland and Wildlife Park Event to Feature Workshops, Plant Swap

The community is invited to join South Pasadena Beautiful, Friends of the South Pasadena Nature Park and the city of South Pasadena for the Sustainability Fair, Garden Tour and Plant Swap on April 6 from 1-4 p.m. at the Arroyo Seco Woodland and Wildlife Park.
The Arroyo Seco Woodland and Wildlife Park is a four-acre haven to mature coast live oaks, Southern California black walnuts and western sycamores. In 2023, park volunteers sowed more wildflower seeds than ever before.
The fair will offer guests the opportunity to meet the city’s sustainability team to discuss crucial programs aimed at enhancing South Pasadena’s environmental initiatives.
Participants will also be able to attend Los Angeles County Smart Gardening workshop focused on composting and adopting sustainable gardening practices, as well as connect with members of various environmental organizations to gain insights on how they can adopt a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
The public is encouraged to bring a plant to exchange at the annual plant swap. Plants will be provided by Bellefontaine Nursery and Bartlett Tree Experts. Volunteers will be on hand to help carry plants to and from the plant swap.
The garden tour will take community members on a leisurely stroll through the park accompanied by knowledgeable volunteers. The journey will allow guests to experience South Pasadena’s “superbloom.” Attendees will also get the chance to watch plein-air artists practice and discover the joy of connecting with nature.
The lower entrance to the park is just past the Arroyo Seco Golf Course driving range. Parking is available at the golf course clubhouse at 1055 Lohman Lane. Those who join can take the pedestrian path located at the west end of Lohman Lane. Additional parking is available on Lohman Lane, west of the tennis courts.
The upper entrance is in the 100 block of Pasadena Avenue, east of the York Boulevard bridge. The cross street is Sycamore Avenue. Street parking is also available.
