Tigers Lead Rio Hondo League

First published in the Oct. 22 print issue of the South Pasadena Review.

South Pasadena High School’s varsity boys’ water polo team may have had its seven-game win streak snapped but still sits swimmingly in first place with a 7-1 Rio Hondo League record (14-10 overall).
The Tigers splashed into action in a league match at Temple City, winning 16-6 recently. SPHS outscored Temple City in each quarter and decided the game with nine goals in the first half.

The stellar offense and sturdy defense continued into South Pasadena’s next match against visiting Blair High of Pasadena, a lopsided 18-1 Tigers’ victory. The win helped move South Pas to 4-1 at home, extending their home win streak to three games.
South Pasadena stayed aggressive in its seventh consecutive victory against visiting San Marino, 17-12, last Thursday, Oct. 14, in a league match.
Most recently, the Tigers lost a close league rematch — their first league defeat of the season — against visiting Temple City, 18-16, on Tuesday.
