Boys’ Tennis: South Pas Season Ends in CIF Second Round

The South Pasadena High School varsity boys’ tennis team lost at Long Beach Wilson 13-5 in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs on May 3.
The No. 1 doubles team of Zachary Lee and Christopher Wong won a pair of sets with identical 6-4 scores, while the No. 3 tandem of Dylan West Jean-Luc Andre secured a 6-3 victory. No. 1 singles player Aidan Liu won a set with a 6-2 score, while No. 2 Emilio Lois added a 6-4 victory.
The Tigers picked up a 12-6 CIF-opening victory against visiting San Clemente on May 3.
No. 1 Liu swept with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-3, No. 2 Lucas Cornforth swept with scores of 6-0, 6-2 and 6-4, and No. 3 Lois also swept with scores of 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4.
The No. 2 doubles team of Emett Mendel and Sebastian Thompson won a pair of sets with scores of 6-1 and 7-5, while the No. 1 tandem of Wong and Lee added a 6-3 victory.
SPHS finished the campaign as Rio Hondo League co-champions with a 7-1 record (14-3 overall).
