Baseball: South Pasadena Routs Monrovia in League Finale

The South Pasadena High School varsity baseball team posted a convincing 11-1 Rio Hondo League victory at Monrovia in its regular-season finale on April 25.
Senior Nolan Adams, who had a hit, an RBI, a run and a walk at the plate, pitched five innings with three strikeouts. Senior Elijah Garcia, who was credited with an RBI, a run and a stolen base, pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Sophomore Aaron Kawasaki went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, while senior Griffin Johnson recorded a double, two runs and an RBI. Senior Jesse Chavez finished with a hit, two RBIs, two runs, a stolen base and a walk, while senior Luke Riffle and junior Jon Bracamonte each tallied a hit and a run. Senior Devin Robinson and junior Leo Castillo each walked once and scored a run, while junior Charlie Vogel walked once.
SPHS, which finished second in league with an 8-4 record (17-10 overall), will host Segerstrom High of Santa Ana (12-11-1) in its CIF Southern Section Division V opener on May 3 at 3:15 p.m. If victorious, the Tigers would advance to the second round and travel to Riverside Prep in Oro Grande (21-6) on May 7.

27
