South Pasadena Police Arrest Robbery, Kidnapping Suspects

South Pasadena police arrested two suspects April 19 in connection to a San Bernardino County robbery and kidnapping case with the help of the department’s Automated License Plate Reader system.
The vehicle was spotted entering South Pasadena, prompting immediate police response. Officers located the vehicle at Fremont Avenue and Monterey Road near South Pasadena High School and Holy Family School.
Despite initial noncompliance from the driver, the vehicle slowly came to a stop near Fremont Avenue and Rollin Street.
A high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and two individuals were detained without incident. San Bernardino County officers arrived on the scene to assume responsibility for the ongoing investigation.
Authorities confirmed that the operation posed no threat to nearby students or staff. SPHS issued a lockdown shortly after 10 a.m. due to police activity on Fremont.
“The police activity occurred in front of the high school and all staff responded accordingly with safety precautions,” SPUSD officials said in an April 19 statement. “The school lockdown has been cleared and students and staff on campus are safe.”
The SPPD is seeking additional information related to this incident. Witnesses are encouraged to call (626) 403-7270. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
