Woman’s Club of South Pasadena to Host ‘Gardening With Nature’

Discover the beauty and benefits of gardening with native plants at the April 9 evening meeting of the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena.
Barbara Eisenstein, the featured speaker, is a horticulturist, native plant gardening enthusiast, and author of “Wild Suburbia – Learning to Garden with Native Plants.”
The public is invited to attend the program to be held at the Clubhouse located at 1424 Fremont Ave. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
Eisenstein’s talk and video presentation will provide timely information for both the novice and experienced gardeners seeking sustainable and habitat-friendly practices.
She will focus on the value of working with nature to achieve beautiful and interesting yards without the use of toxic chemicals.
Her talk will present practical approaches to landscaping and sustainable gardening with native and drought-tolerant plants that welcome and nourish birds and butterflies. After the talk, the audience will be invited to ask questions and share ideas on native plant gardening and sustainability.
Eisenstein resides in South Pasadena in a 100-year-old craftsman home where she designed, installed and maintains her native plant garden in the heart of South Pasadena.
She served on the board of the California Native Plant Society and offered horticultural outreach to the public through her work at the California Botanic Garden.
She is also founder of and manages “Friends of the Nature Park” located in South Pasadena’s Arroyo Seco.
