‘Active Streets’ Opens Roads to Pedestrians April 28

The event “626 Golden Streets” is hitting a refresh upon its return to South Pasadena on Sunday, April 28.
The free family-friendly event is now known as “Active Streets,” opening up stretches of roadway for people to walk, jog, skate and bike from selected streets in San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Alhambra.
The event is organized by ActiveSGV, a nonprofit organization dedicated to realizing a safer, more sustainable and equitable San Gabriel Valley.
People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome, with festivities kicking off at 8:20 a.m. with an official opening ceremony at South Pasadena City Hall on 1414 Mission St.
The 626 Run, a family-friendly 5k fun run will follow at 8:30 a.m. Registration is not required. Attendees can start and stop at any point along the route from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Each downtown district will feature an activity hub with live music and artists, community organizations, green vendors and games.
GoSGV e-bike test ride zones will be available in the South Pasadena and San Gabriel hubs. Participants are encouraged to enjoy the day by foot, bike, skate, skateboard, scooter or any human-powered vehicle. For a route map and more information, visit
