Baseball: Tigers Find Stride to Build Winning Streak

The South Pasadena High School varsity baseball team extended its win streak to three games after posting a 6-3 Rio Hondo League victory over visiting Temple City on March 18.
Junior Leo Castillo, who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs at the plate, pitched four innings with three strikeouts, while junior Charlie Vogel pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
Senior Nolan Adams went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs, junior Jon Bracamonte recorded a double and an RBI, and sophomore Aaron Kawasaki produced a double. Senior Devin Robinson contributed a hit and a stolen base, junior Charles Esnault scored two runs, and junior Harley Arrieta scored once. Senior Griffin Johnson walked once, while junior Dylan Liu stole a base.
The Tigers secured a 6-4 nonleague victory over visiting Venice High of Los Angeles on March 16.
Junior Gabe Vogel pitched three innings with two strikeouts, senior Owen Woodworth pitched three innings with one strikeout and Charlie Vogel pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout.
Adams went 2-for-2 with a run and a walk, while Castillo went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Senior Elijah Garcia finished with a hit, two runs and a stolen base, while Bracamonte registered a hit and two runs. Senior Luke Riffle produced a hit and a walk, senior Jesse Chavez, Johnson and Kawasaki each tallied a base hit, and Robinson was credited with an RBI, a run, a walk and a stolen base.
South Pasadena snapped its six-game skid with a 3-1 league victory at Monrovia on March 14 as Adams pitched six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.
Robinson went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run and a stolen base, Castillo went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base, and Johnson went 3-for-4 with a run. Chavez and Bracamonte each tallied a base hit, whole Riffle walked twice and scored a run.
The Tigers (7-7 overall, 2-2 in league) will compete in the San Diego Lions Tournament from March 25 to 28 before hosting Alhambra on April 2.
