The South Pasadena Chinese-American Club held its 35th annual fundraising gala on Saturday, Feb. 26, at NBC Seafood in Monterey Park.
Guests were treated to a banquet, a silent auction and performances by LACHSA’s Chamber Ensemble Quartet, the South Pasadena Middle School orchestra ensemble, dancers from the Dancing Wing Studio and magician Kevin Li.
The event raises funds for SPCC activities, including college scholarships for South Pasadena High School students. This year’s scholarship recipients were Jacqueline Macera, Talia Yoo and Eliana Chow. The club also provides grants to the South Pasadena Public Library, the SPMS and SPHS athletic boosters and music boosters, and the elementary school PTAs.
Held on the day of the Lantern Festival, the event brought together residents, community leaders, school administrators and elected officials to celebrate the Lunar New Year and the achievements of SPCC.
