Boys’ Tennis: Tigers Off to Unbeaten Start

The South Pasadena High School varsity boys’ tennis team overwhelmed host Mark Keppel High in Alhambra with a 15-3 nonleague victory on Feb. 22.
In singles play, the Tigers received sweeps from No. 2 Aidan Liu (6-2, 6-0, 6-0) and No. 3 Lucas Cornforth (6-0, 6-0, 6-2). No. 1 Emilio Lois won a set, 6-0, before alternating with Max Slattery, who added a 6-1 victory.
The No. 1 doubles team of Christopher Wong and Zachary Lee swept their side by scores of 6-3, 7-5, 6-0. The No. 2 tandem of Sebastian Thompson and Emett Mendel (6-3, 6-2), and the No. 3 duo of Dylan West and Jean-Luc Andre (6-2, 6-3) each won a pair of sets.
The Tigers (2-0 overall) will visit Arroyo High of El Monte for a nonleague match on March 1 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Glendora on March 4.
