Baseball: Bracamonte Shuts Out Pasadena in Tigers Win

The South Pasadena High School varsity baseball team shut out host Pasadena High 6-0 in a nonleague game on Feb. 17 as junior Jon Bracamonte pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and one walk with six strikeouts across seven dominant innings.
Senior Griffin Johnson went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run, while junior Charles Eshault produced a hit, one RBI and a stolen base. Sophomore Aaron Kawasaki recorded a hit and one walk, while senior Nolan Adams tallied a base hit. Junior Nathan Olivarez scored once and stole a base, senior Elijah Garcia, senior Luke Riffle, junior Dylan Liu and junior Leo Castillo each scored once, and junior Jesse Chavez walked once.
The Tigers picked up a 7-1 nonleague victory over visiting Arroyo High of El Monte on Feb. 22.
Junior Ben Regan allowed one run on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts in four innings to earn the win. Castillo pitched three scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and no walks with five strikeouts.
Bracamonte went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base, while Johnson went 2-for-3. Riffle registered a hit, two RBIs and a run, Adams recorded a hit, a run, a stolen base and a walk, and Chavez finished with a hit, a run and a stolen base. Kawasaki had a hit and a run, while senior Tyler Vargas tallied a base hit. Garcia contributed an RBI, a run, a stolen base and a walk, Olivarez was credited with an RBI, and junior Gabe Vogel scored once.
South Pas (3-0 overall) will host Marshall Fundamental in Pasadena on Feb. 27 at 3:15 p.m. before hosting La Habra on Feb. 28.
