Tigers Momentum Sinks Against Temple City

The South Pasadena High School varsity girls’ water polo team fell to third in the Rio Hondo League standings after a 9-3 loss against visiting Temple City on Jan. 30.
Freshman Ruby Meyer scored a pair of goals, while junior Lana Encinas chipped in one goal.
The Tigers shut out visiting San Marino 15-0 in a league game on Jan. 25.
Meyer racked up five goals, while sophomore Amaya Mahler registered four goals. Junior Sabine Ornelas and freshman Hayun Lee each tallied two goals, while junior Reese Buckley and sophomore Milla Humphrey each scored one goal.
South Pas picked up a 17-6 league victory at Monrovia on Jan. 23.
Mahler and Lee each recorded four goals, while Meyer contributed three goals. Sophomore Cora Bild chipped in two goals, while senior Liz Petty, sophomore Ellen Leung, sophomore Milla Humphrey and Buckley each finished with one goal.
The Tigers (14-9 overall, 6-3 in league) concluded the regular season at La Cañada on Feb. 1; the league game ended after the Review’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. South Pasadena will compete in Division IV.
