Meyer, Lee Power South Pasadena Past Etiwanda

The South Pasadena High School varsity girls’ water polo team finished with a 3-1 record at the Troy Tournament last weekend.
The Tigers edged Etiwanda 9-8 in their tournament finale on Dec. 2.
Freshman Ruby Meyer scored five goals, freshman Hayun Lee registered three goals and junior Reese Buckley had one goal.
South Pasadena shut out Marina High of Huntington Beach 15-0 in a tournament game on Dec. 2.
Meyer racked up seven goals, Lee tallied five goals, and junior Reese Buckley, sophomore Cora Bild and sophomore Milla Humphrey each scored one goal.
The Tigers routed Claremont 16-2 in a tournament game on Dec. 1.
Lee finished with six goals, Meyer chipped in five goals, and junior Cleo Walker and Bild each scored two goals.
South Pas suffered a 13-8 loss against St. Lucy’s High of Glendora in their tournament opener on Dec. 1.
Meyer produced three goals, Lee contributed two goals, and sophomore Amaya Mahler, Buckley and Bild each had one goal.
The Tigers posted a convincing 18-3 nonleague victory over visiting Alhambra on Nov. 30.
Meyer registered five goals, Lee tallied four goals and sophomore Riis Dickey recorded three goals. Junior Lana Encinas and sophomore Ellen Leung each scored two goals, while Buckley and Mahler each had one goal.
SPHS (6-3 overall) will open Rio Hondo League action at Blair High in Pasadena on Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. before hosting Monrovia on Dec. 14.
