South Pasadena Teams Record Clean Sheets

The South Pasadena High School varsity boys’ soccer team shut out host Flintridge Prep in La Cañada Flintridge 4-0 in a nonleague contest on Dec. 1 as senior Sawyer Fox and freshman Jackai Williams each registered one goal and one assist.
Sophomores Leo Sanchez and Sam Rodak each scored one goal, while senior captain Evan Takeda-Teer and junior Joel Kim were each credited with one assist. Senior captain Joe Hwang recorded two shots on goal, while sophomore Zack Millar finished with one shot on goal. Sophomore Mick Dubester tallied three saves, while junior Austin Hwang had one save.
The Tigers lost to visiting Marshall High of Pasadena 3-1 in a nonleague match on Nov. 30. Joe Hwang scored one goal, while junior Ethan Kung had one assist.
South Pas (1-3 overall) will host San Marino for its Rio Hondo League opener on Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. before visiting La Cañada on Dec. 15.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
The SPHS varsity girls’ soccer team shut out visiting Alhambra 2-0 in its season opener on Dec. 5. Senior Zoe Kim and junior Saidbh Byrne each scored one goal.
The Tigers (1-0) will battle Canyon Springs High in Moreno Valley and Castaic in a pair of Best in the West Tournament games on Dec. 9 before opening Rio Hondo League action at San Marino on Dec. 13 at 4 p.m.
