Tigers Begin Campaign With Overtime Victory

The South Pasadena High School varsity boys’ basketball team secured a season-opening 71-62 overtime victory against Camarillo at its Battle by the Beach Showcase game on Nov. 17.
Senior Russell Williams registered 19 points, senior Derek Peterson and junior Oni Balogun each contributed 13 points, and junior Jack Madison scored 11 points. Junior Sebastian Martinez finished with six points, junior Kevin Hu chipped in five points and junior Miles Nowe drained a 3-pointer.
The Tigers (1-0 overall) will visit Bosco Tech High in Rosemead for a nonleague game on Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. before competing in the Rose City Tournament the following week.
