Holiday Book Sale Raised Thousands of Dollars

First published in the Dec. 10 print issue of the South Pasadena Review

A three-day sale of new and gently used books this past weekend raised several thousand dollars for the library, according to the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library.

The event, which ran Dec. 3-5, is held annually by the Friends in the library’s Community Room.
Holiday shoppers browsed tables of high-quality books in architecture, art, biography, fiction, games, humor, sports and other categories. Books available were for both adults and children. Approximately 500 books were sold, with most of them suitable for gift giving.
Members of the Friends were admitted to the sale one hour prior to the official opening on Friday evening. All who attended that night were also able to have their selections gift wrapped.
The sale will continue for the rest of December in the bookstore on the second floor of the library. For shopping hours, visit friendsofsopaslibrary.org/bookstore. Books reduced to 50 cents each are available in a separate shelving area on the first floor in the library.
For library hours, call (626) 403-7350 or visit southpasadenaca.gov/library.
