South Pasadena Police Department Crime Report

Two unidentified men were seen stealing bicycles after cutting through locks in a carport in the 1800 block of Foothill Street at 12:14 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. Both men were described as 20-30-year-old white men wearing masks and hats.

Two unidentified men were seen cutting out and taking a catalytic converter from a Honda Accord parked in the 500 block of Hermosa Street at 2:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22. The men were seen driving away in a white SUV.

A Ford Econoline van was recovered by the Los Angeles Police Department 77th Street Division after it was reported stolen from where it was parked in the 800 block of Orange Grove Avenue sometime between 11:57 a.m. and 12:18 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22.

An unknown person tampered with the passenger side door and steering wheel column of a U-Haul truck parked in the 600 block of Charter Oak Street sometime from 1-9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20.

A purse was reported stolen from a Volkswagen Passat sedan parked in the 1900 block of Huntington Drive after a thief smashed through a window sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25. Credit cards inside the purse were later used for fraudulent transactions.

Gardening tools were reported stolen from the bed of a Dodge Ram pickup truck parked in the 1300 block of Fair Oaks Avenue from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20.

A 19-year-old South Pasadena man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale after being contacted regarding a city code violation at 1:38 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21. Police allege the man was in possession of individually packaged cocaine along with ecstasy and a digital scale.

A 32-year-old Alhambra man and 32-year-old Monterey Park man were arrested on suspicion of possession of nitrous oxide after being involved in a traffic collision at 8:06 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, near Pasadena Avenue and Arroyo Boulevard.

A 23-year-old transient woman was arrested on suspicion of theft after allegedly taking a package from the front porch of a home in the 900 block of Adelaine Avenue at 3:02 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19.

A card-skimming device was found to have been installed inside an ATM at Comerica Bank on Fair Oaks Avenue sometime between 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, and 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23.

A convertible top on a vehicle parked in the 1700 block of Mission Street was reported to have been cut sometime between 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, and 7:12 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20.

Various items were reported stolen from an unlocked Nissan Frontier pickup truck parked in the 400 block of Hawthorne Street sometime between 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, and 8:53 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20.

A bicycle was reported stolen from a storage area in the 1700 block of Oxley Street sometime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16.

There were hit-and-runs reported at the following locations:
• The intersection of Pasadena Avenue and Arroyo Boulevard at 5:59 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24
• The 300 block of Alta Vista Avenue at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20
• The 700 block of Monterey Road at 6:43 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21
• The 600 block of Orange Grove Avenue at 4:21 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24.

These alleged crimes and incidents were reported to the South Pasadena Police Department between Tuesday, Oct. 19, and Monday, Oct. 25. Information was gathered from a weekly crime summary published by SPPD’s Crime Prevention Unit.
