Obituary | Janene Elizabeth Reed (Bailey)

Janene Elizabeth Reed (Bailey), a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, led an amazing life for most of her 79 years. She sadly lost a long battle with Parkinson’s disease on September 13, 2021. At the time of her death, she and Larry, her loving husband of 57 years, were still living in their South Pasadena home where they had raised their children.
Janene was born in Los Angeles on September 8, 1942. Janene, and her brother Jim Bailey, were as close as siblings could be. They were there for each other through everything life could throw at them. They spoke on the phone every day and laughter was always a major part. They had a very unique respect and love for each other.
Janene graduated from Franklin High School in 1960. Then she became a banking executive secretary, only taking a break while her kids were in school, then continued working until her retirement. She was an avid reader of many genres, a gardener, an excellent cook, a fabulous seamstress. She made clothes, pajamas, Halloween costumes, and crocheted afghans for her children and grandchildren. Her love for these hobbies, however, was nothing compared to the love she had for her family.
True love is a concept that many people struggle with, but Janene and Larry knew it well. If you were to look at their marriage, you would find it. They married 1963 and the life they had together was, in a word, magical. They travelled the world together, visiting places like Italy, Finland, and their favorite, Alaska. They did it all, and they did it all together and loved every minute of it.
Along with Larry, Janene leaves behind their two children, Cindy and Tony; their children’s spouses, Greg and Nicole; and their wonderful grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Ben and Jackson. She adored being their Mimi, and Grandma Nini.
Friends are invited to join Janene’s family in a final goodbye on October 7, 2021 at 9:30 a.m., at Church of the Little Flowers at Forest Lawn Glendale.
