Softball: Road Trip Tests South Pas

The South Pasadena High School varsity softball team lost at Azusa 4-3 in a nonleague game on April 15. Lucia Atencio pitched a six-inning complete game with one strikeout.
Leila Nolasco went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run, while Danica Stirling went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Natalie Kan recorded a hit, a run and a walk, while Emma Becerra finished with a hit and an RBI. Megan Sung and Talula Bearden each tallied a base hit, while Mia Dearborn scored a run.
The Tigers lost at Temple City 10-0 in a Rio Hondo League game on April 12. Kan pitched 4 2/3 innings with four strikeouts and no walks, while Becerra, Nolasco and Stirling each contributed a base hit.
South Pasadena suffered a 9-4 loss at Providence High in Burbank in a nonleague game on April 10.
Kan, who had a hit and an RBI at the plate, pitched 4 1/3 innings with four strikeouts and no walks, while Atencio pitched 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.
Bearden went 2-for-4 with a run, Becerra tallied a hit, an RBI and a run, and Stirling registered a hit, a run and a walk. Nolasco had a base hit, while Dearborn scored a run and stole a base. Sung was credited with an RBI, while Caitlyn Colmenares walked once.
South Pasadena (7-13 overall, 3-6 in league) will host La Cañada for a league game on April 19 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Alhambra on April 20.
