Boys’ Volleyball: SPHS Stretches Burroughs in Nonleague Match

The South Pasadena High School varsity boys’ volleyball team lost at Burroughs High in Burbank in four games, 30-32, 21-25, 28-26, 14-25, in a nonleague match on April 4.
Senior Ian Chang racked up 23 assists, seven kills, nine digs and three blocks, junior James Dowd finished with 14 kills, four blocks, two digs and one ace, and sophomore Conan Lafferty registered 12 kills, 10 digs and one ace. Junior Jack Pellerin produced seven kills, four digs and one ace, while senior Ryan Estanislao recorded seven digs, one ace and one assist. Sophomore Kyle Kirchen contributed five blocks and one dig, sophomore Wyatt Morimoto-Woo collected six digs, and senior Nigel Mundara was credited with four digs, one kill and one block. Senior Isaiah Hyun and freshman Liam Johnson each had one kill, while freshman Lorcan Swift made one block.
The Tigers swept host Monrovia, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20, in a Rio Hondo League match on March 28.
Chang was credited with 20 assists, two kills and one ace, while junior Martin Walsh finished with 10 digs, seven kills, one ace and one block. Junior Jacob Chuang registered seven kills, two digs, one block and one assist, Pellerin tallied six kills, three blocks and two digs, and Dowd recorded six blocks, five kills, two digs and one assist. Lafferty contributed four digs, three kills and three blocks, Mundara produced eight assists and two digs, and Estanislao had eight digs and one ace.
South Pasadena (10-8 overall, 4-1 in league) will visit La Cañada for a league match on April 9 at 5 p.m. before visiting San Marino on April 11.
