South Pasadena Police Department Crime Report

A residential burglary was reported in the 1400 block of Fremont Avenue at 7:30 p.m. on May 26. The suspect entered a garage parking structure and took a bicycle and helmet from the victim’s parking stall. The suspect was described as a 30-year-old man.

A suspect smashed a glass window of a business located in the 900 block of Mission Street at 12:54 a.m. on May 30. While inside the establishment, the suspect attempted to tamper with a phone. Nothing was reported missing. The suspect, a 52-year-old man from Santa Barbara, was arrested.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person looking into vehicles in the 6000 block of Monterey Road at 3:33 p.m. on May 29. When the officers confronted the 36-year-old female suspect, she kicked them, and was subsequently arrested.

A suspect entered a Starbucks in the 900 block of Fair Oaks Avenue and took cups that were recovered at 8:30 a.m. on May 14. The suspect, a 49-year-old man, was arrested.

A victim received an email claiming to be from PayPal and was instructed to call a number in an email regarding fraudulent activity on victim’s account at 10:30 a.m. on May 6. The victim then called the number and the suspect who answered claimed to be a federal agent. The suspect told the victim to purchase gift cards to start an investigation and the victim complied. The victim complied again when the suspect instructed them to purchase additional gift cards.

A suspect used counterfeit coins to purchase items at Berry Opera in the 800 block of Fair Oaks Avenue at 6:20 p.m. on May 27.

A victim received a pop-up window claiming to be from Microsoft on their computer stating that the victim’s computer has been infected by spyware and to call a phone number at 7:30 a.m. on May 13. The victim then called the number and allowed the suspect to gain remote access to their computer. The suspect then accessed the victim’s bank account and sold their stock.

An 18-year-old Pomona man was found in possession of nitrous oxide near Fair Oaks Avenue and Arlington Drive after being stopped for a traffic violation at 12:32 a.m. on May 29. The man was arrested.

These alleged crimes and incidents were reported to the South Pasadena Police Department between Tuesday, May 27, and Monday, June 3. Information was gathered from a weekly crime summary published by SPPD’s Crime Prevention Unit.
