Softball: Tigers Top San Marino to Snap Losing Streak

The South Pasadena High School varsity softball team snapped a four-game losing streak with a 10-2 Rio Hondo League victory at San Marino on March 29. Natalie Kan, who had a hit and a run at the plate, pitched a six-inning complete game with three strikeouts and no walks.
Lucia Atencio went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, Emma Becerra went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, a run and a walk, and Caitlyn Colmenares went 3-for-4 with a double. Danica Stirling finished with a hit, a run, a stolen base and two walks, Sydney Lee and Juliana Mostert each recorded a hit, a run and a walk, and Talula Bearden produced a hit and two runs. Leila Nolasco was credited with two RBIs, a run and a walk, while Mia Dearborn scored a run.
The Tigers lost to visiting Schurr High of Montebello 14-4 in a nonleague game on March 27.
Nolasco went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and a run, while Ava Dawson went 2-for-3. Bearden registered a hit and two RBIs, while Stirling produced a hit, a run and a walk. Colmenares tallied a base hit, while Lee scored a run.
Kan, who walked once and scored a run at the plate, pitched two innings with one strikeout, while Atencio pitched three innings with one strikeout.
South Pasadena (7-9 overall, 3-4 in league) will host Monrovia for a league game on April 9 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Providence High in Burbank on April 10.
