South Pasadena Police Department Crime Report

A suspect was arrested in connection with carjacking, burglary and possession of a controlled substance incidents after witnesses said he committed a series of criminal acts involving vehicles. According to police, the suspect attempted to pry open the doors of two vehicles using a burglary tool before throwing a rock at a third vehicle. The suspect attempted to enter a vehicle when a driver was still in it. Eventually, the suspect entered his own vehicle and drove away, leading officers on a pursuit. He was apprehended after he was involved in a traffic collision and was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

A residential burglary occurred at a home in the 100 block of Monterey Road at about 9 a.m. on March 2. According to police, the suspect entered the victim’s unlocked garage, broke into a vehicle and stole a car seat, sunglasses and shoes.

Calvary Church in the 1000 block of Fremont Avenue was reported to have been burglarized in the early morning of Feb. 26. Police said the suspect used a pry tool to attempt to open the door of the church, but he ultimately failed to gain entry.

These alleged crimes and incidents were reported to the South Pasadena Police Department between Tuesday, Feb. 27, and Monday, March 4. Information was gathered from a weekly crime summary published by SPPD’s Crime Prevention Unit.
