South Pasadena Police Use Narcan to Prevent Fatal Overdose

South Pasadena Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Huntington Drive for a report of a subject who had overdosed on narcotics on Feb. 7 at 3:44 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the individual unresponsive. Officers administered two doses of Naloxone, commonly referred to as Narcan, into the subject’s nostrils to counteract the opioid overdose.
South Pasadena Fire Department paramedics subsequently responded and transported the subject to a hospital for medical care.
“The officers’ quick thinking and immediate action aided in the subject’s recovery from the narcotic overdose,” the SPPD said in a statement.
The SPPD urges anyone who needs confidential free help, or to find substance use treatment and information, to call the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 or text 988.
