The South Pasadena High School varsity baseball team picked up a 7-1 season-opening victory against visiting El Rancho High of Pico Rivera on Feb. 10. Senior Nolan Adams earned the win on the mound after allowing one unearned run on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts across six innings of work.
Senior Devin Robinson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, an RBI, a run and a walk, while senior Luke Riffle recorded a triple, three runs, a pair of RBIs, two steals and a walk. Sophomore Aaron Kawasaki doubled home an RBI, senior Griffin Johnson tallied three RBIs, a hit and a stolen base, and senior Elijah Garcia finished with a hit, a pair of runs and a stolen base. Junior Dylan Liu scored once, senior Jesse Chavez walked twice and junior Leo Castillo had one walk. Junior Ben Regan pitched a scoreless and hitless inning of relief to finish the game after Adams was pulled with 95 pitches.
The Tigers will visit Pasadena for a nonleague game on Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. before hosting Cathedral High of Los Angeles on Feb. 20.
