Clergy Network Offers ‘Ashes to Go’

The South Pasadena Clergy Network will once again join together to distribute ashes on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14, to serve commuters outside the city’s Mission Street train station.
Ash Wednesday gets its name from the placing of ashes on the forehead in the sign of the cross on the forehead of the participant.
ReNew United Methodist Church Pastor Sam Park said that his church would once again participate in the event, and that last year, clergy members and volunteers also came from Holy Family Catholic Church, Oneonta Congregational Church, Mosaic and St. Marks in Pasadena.
Park said that he hoped even more churches would send representatives this year to commemorate the Christian holy day, which begins Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter.
