Tigers Fall to Chaminade in NIKE Showcase Matchup

The South Pasadena High School varsity girls’ basketball team lost to Chaminade High of West Hills 80-70 in its Matt Denning NIKE Hoops Classic Showcase game on Jan. 6 as senior captain Dylan Tse racked up 29 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Senior captain Jamie Rain Kim scored 19 points, while junior Kayla Boozer poured in 11 points with six rebounds, one block and one steal. Junior Katie Chung recorded six points and one rebound, sophomore Madeline Park chipped in three points, two assists and one rebound, and senior Ava Chang finished with three rebounds, two points and one steal. Junior Mia Leach registered two rebounds, while senior captain Yuzu Harada and junior Maddy Wong each had one steal and one assist.
The Tigers secured a 63-41 nonleague victory over Palisades High of Pacific Palisades on Jan. 5 as Boozer racked up a double-double with 27 rebounds, 25 points, one block and one steal.
Tse poured in 16 points with eight rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Leach registered nine points and one assist. Chang chipped in four points, three assists, three rebounds and one steal, Harada contributed three points, three assists and one rebound, and Rain Kim tallied three points, three rebounds and one assist. Chung produced two points, one steal and one rebound, Park scored one point, and sophomore Brylee Woo had one steal and one rebound.
South Pasadena (14-2 overall, 2-0 in league) will host Monrovia for a Rio Hondo League game on Jan. 12 at 5:30 p.m. before battling King High of Riverside in the Mayfield Senior MLK Showcase game on Jan. 15.
