Tse, Boozer Spearhead South Pas in Glendora Tournament

The South Pasadena High School varsity girls’ basketball team competed in the Glendora Tournament last week and finished with a 3-1 record.
The Tigers defeated Summit High of Fontana 66-36 in their tournament opener on Dec. 27.
Junior Kayla Boozer racked up a double-double with 26 points, 18 rebounds, five blocks and five steals, while senior captain Dylan Tse poured in 28 points with five rebounds, five assists and one steal. Senior Ava Chang chipped in six points and one steal, sophomore Madeline Park finished with three points, one steal and one rebound, and sophomore Emma Jay Johnson contributed three points and one rebound. Senior captain Yuzu Harada recorded five rebounds and one steal, while junior Mia Leach registered four assists and one rebound. Junior Maddy Wong produced one steal and one assist, sophomore Brylee Woo tallied two rebounds, and junior Katie Chung had one rebound.
South Pasadena secured an 80-67 victory over Roosevelt High of Eastvale in a tournament game on Dec. 28.
Boozer posted a double-double with 27 points, 24 rebounds, one steal and one assist, while Tse amassed 33 points, seven assists, six rebounds and one steal.
Leach tallied seven points, three rebounds and one assist, Harada finished with five points, one steal, one rebound and one assist, and Chang chipped in two points and two rebounds. Park recorded three assists and two rebounds, while Wong one registered rebound and one assist.
The Tigers finished tournament play with a 71-39 loss against Fairmont Prep of Anaheim on Dec. 29, while posting a 67-49 victory over Alemany High of Mission Hills on Dec. 30. Individual statistics were not reported to the South Pasadena Review.
South Pasadena (13-1 overall, 2-0 in league) will host Palisades High of Pacific Palisades for a nonleague game on Jan. 5 at 5 p.m. before battling Chaminade High of West Hills in a Matt Denning NIKE Hoops Classic Showcase game on Jan. 6.
