Unbeaten Tigers Cruise to Tournament Title

The South Pasadena High School varsity girls’ basketball team defeated Los Alamitos 55-41 to win the Valley Christian Tournament on Dec. 2.
Senior captain Dylan Tse racked up 24 points, while junior Kayla Boozer registered 18 points. Senior captain Jamie Rain Kim tallied nine points, while senior captain Yuzu Harada and senior Ava Chang each tallied two points.
The Tigers secured a convincing 68-39 victory over Peninsula High of the Rolling Hills Estates in a Valley Christian Tournament game on Nov. 30, as Boozer finished with 16 rebounds, 14 points, two assists and one steal.
Tse racked up 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals, while Rain Kim contributed 18 points, two steals, two assists and one rebound. Junior Katie Chung recorded seven points, one rebound and one assist, while sophomore Brylee Woo produced four points and one steal. Sophomore Madeline Park tallied two points, two assists and one rebound, Harada registered two points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist, and junior Maddy Wong chipped in two points and one steal. Chang finished with three rebounds, one block and one assist, while junior Mia Leach collected three steals and one rebound. Junior Annika Selsby had one steal and one rebound, while senior Natalie Wilson and sophomore Emma Johnson each had one rebound.
The Tigers posted a 48-42 victory over Los Alamitos in a Valley Christian Tournament game on Nov. 29.
Boozer recorded 20 points, 16 rebounds, two blocks and two steals, while Tse registered 14 points, six assists, four rebounds and two blocks. Rain Kim tallied nine points, two steals and two rebounds, Chang recorded three points, one rebound and one assist, and Park contributed two points, two steals, two assists and two rebounds. Leach had one rebound, while Harada had one steal.
The Tigers defeated Alemany High of Mission Hills 71-56 in a Providence Tournament game on Dec. 5 as Boozer contributed 23 points.
Leach tallied 19 points, while Tse produced 17 points. Chang scored five points, Park registered four points and Harada had one point.
South Pasadena secured a 68-49 victory over Chaminade High of West Hills in its Providence Tournament opener on Dec. 4.
Boozer amassed 31 points, while Tse tallied 23 points. Leach chipped in six points, Wong scored three points, and Chang and Johnson each had two points.
Following the conclusion of the Providence Tournament on Dec. 9, the Tigers (6-0 overall) will host San Marino for their Rio Hondo League opener on Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
