SPHS Secures First Win Against La Salle

The South Pasadena High School varsity girls’ water polo team snapped a two-game losing streak after beating visiting La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena, 10-6, in a nonleague contest on Nov. 16.
Sophomore Amaya Mahler scored a game-high four goals, freshman Ruby Meyer tallied three goals, and junior Cleo Walker, sophomore Ellen Leung and freshman Hayun Lee each added one goal.
The Tigers lost to visiting Flintridge Prep of La Cañada Flintridge, 11-9, in a nonleague game on Nov. 15.
Meyer recorded four goals, Mahler finished with two goals, and junior Lana Encinas, Leung and Lee each had one goal.
SPHS suffered a narrow 8-7 season-opening loss at Burroughs High in Burbank on Nov. 14, as Meyer racked up five goals. Meanwhile, teammates Mahler and Lee each scored once.
The Tigers (1-2 overall) will host Arcadia for a nonleague game on Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. before hosting Alhambra on Nov. 30.
