SPHS Senior Named to Rose Court

South Pasadena High School senior Phoebe Ho has been selected to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses’ Royal Court, it was announced Monday morning in Pasadena. The anticipated reveal was attended by nearly 200 people on the south lawn of Tournament House, including friends and family of the 28 finalists.
Ho is captain of the South Pasadena High School dance program, a competitive dancer at San Marino Dance Academy, a Girl Scout in the Greater Los Angeles chapter, secretary of Femineers at South Pasadena High School, a member of an engineering program dedicated to promoting careers for women in STEM, an intern at Lineage Performing Arts Center, a board member of Asian Pacific Islander Student Union and a volunteer for the Red Cross. She enjoys dance, photography, engineering, baking and reading. She plans to study biomedical engineering at New York University or University of California, San Diego. Ho is the daughter of Philip and Pauline Ho, and has a brother, Philson.
In addition to Ho, the other 2024 Rose Court members are Olivia Bohanec of La Salle College Preparatory in Pasadena, Trinity Dela Cruz of Marshall Fundamental High School in Pasadena, Mia Moore-Walker of Flintridge Preparatory School in La Cañada Flintridge, Jessica Powell of Flintridge Prep, Naomi Stillitano of Arcadia High School and Emmerson Tucker of Blair High School in Pasadena.
Members of the 2024 Royal Court will serve as ambassadors of the Tournament of Roses, the Pasadena community, and the greater Los Angeles area, and will each receive a $7,500 educational scholarship.
“The selected young ladies exemplify character, service and leadership modeled through their commitment to family, school and community,” a Tournament of Roses spokesperson said. “Royal Court members experience countless benefits, including personal development programs designed to enhance their public speaking and presentation abilities, boost self-confidence and refine their etiquette skills. Royal Court members are provided with opportunities to actively participate in the community, make positive contributions and discover ways to connect with local leaders.”
The Rose Queen and Royal Court are iconic traditions, steeped in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses’ history and continue as a treasured legacy. The announcement and coronation of the 105th Rose Queen and presentation of the 2024 Royal Court will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, on the front lawn of Tournament House.
The 2024 Rose Court will ride down Colorado Boulevard on the Royal Court float in the 135th Rose Parade and attend the College Football Playoff semifinal at the 110th Rose Bowl Game, both on Monday, Jan. 1.
