Rain Dampens Season Opener at Crescenta Valley

The South Pasadena High School varsity girls’ tennis team lost its season opener 13-2 in an abbreviated match against Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta last Friday due to inclement weather.
The match was cut short during the third round due to rain, but CV managed to win enough sets to claim a victory.
No. 2 singles Gwendolyn Culbert (6-2) and the No. 1 doubles team of Claire Chen and Isha Zafra (6-4) each won a set.
The Tigers (0-1 overall) will visit Glendora for a nonleague match on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. before hosting Maranatha High of Pasadena on Sept. 14.
