Assemblyman Welcomes Donations for Shoe Drive

First published in the Dec. 10 print issue of the South Pasadena Review

Assemblyman Chris Holden will host his annual Shoe Drive with key community partner, Shoes That Fit, this weekend to provide new athletic shoes to school-aged children in need.

The contactless “give-and-go” shoe drive will take place in front of his district office from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at 600 N. Rosemead Blvd., Pasadena. Shoes in any size are welcome and can be dropped off at the drive-thru event.
“The holiday season is the best time to make a difference in your community, and the gift of a new pair shoes can make a profound impact on a child’s physical and mental health,” Holden said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to seeing how many shoes and socks we collect this year!”
Shoes That Fit, based in Claremont, has raised more than 2.3 million pairs of new shoes to date to help school-aged children and young adults build their confidence and self-esteem with their best foot forward. Throughout the years, thanks to participation from the community, Holden’s shoe drive has collected more than 1,000 pairs of shoes and socks for Shoes That Fit.
