Barbara England Passes Away at 92

 

Barbara England, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and GG, passed away on August 30, 2023. She was a loving and caring individual who touched the lives of all those she met. Barbara’s warm personality and compassionate nature made her a true servant of the Lord.

Born on July 17, 1931, in Pasadena, CA., Barbara pursued her education at Stephens College where she earned an AA in Early Childhood Education. It was during her time there that she met the love of her life, Stanley England. They embarked on a beautiful journey together in St. Louis, MO and in 1962 moved to South Pasadena, CA. Together she and Stan created a loving family  environment that would become the center of Barbara’s world.

Barbara’s career was dedicated to nurturing young minds at Calvary Presbyterian Preschool. Starting as a teacher, she later became the Director in 1985 until her retirement in 2002. Her passion for education and unwavering commitment to her students left an indelible mark on their lives.

Not only was Barbara dedicated to her career, but she was also an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. She served as a deacon and sang in the choir.  Her faith played a central role in her life and guided her actions every day. Additionally, Barbara was a proud member of PEO and actively participated in various school activities as a member of the PTA when her children were growing up and attending Oneonta Elementary School.

Family was paramount to Barbara. Her house was always open and welcoming to all. Holidays were especially significant to her as she cherished spending time with loved ones. Her famous pasta salad and delicious brownies became beloved traditions that brought joy to countless gatherings.

Outside of family-centric occasions, Barbara found joy and fulfillment in various hobbies and interests. She attended Lazy Daze Caravans regularly, immersing herself in an atmosphere filled with excitement and camaraderie. Her big trip with her close friend took her to South Dakota for the 75th Anniversary of Lazy Daze Caravans. As part of Sip and Stitch at her church, Barbara combined her love for knitting with valuable social connections. She also delighted in being part of a book club, even exploring genres she didn’t particularly favor, simply for the sake of expanding her horizons.

In her passing, Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her three children, Dale England, Glenn England, and Sandy Pelkala. Her sister Suzie Vogel shared a special bond with Barbara that will endure forever. Barbara’s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of Barbara’s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her grandchildren: Courtney, Katie, Heather, Brent, Jeremy, and Hayden. She was blessed to know six great-grandchildren who brought light into her life: Lorenzo, Rocky, Roman, Addison, Indy, and Bowie.

Services honoring Barbara’s life will be held on September 23, 2023, at Forest Lawn – Glendale in Glendale, CA. The Funeral Service will commence at 1:00 PM followed by a time of remembrance at 1:30 PM. Friends and family are invited to join together to celebrate the remarkable life of this extraordinary woman.

Barbara England’s presence radiated love and warmth to all fortunate enough to have known her. May her spirit live on in our hearts as we remember her profound impact on our lives. As we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the unwavering love she shared with us all. Rest peacefully now, dear Barbara.
