Track and Field: Tigers Ready for CIF Finals

South Pasadena junior Saidbh Byrne will compete in the girls 3200 race of the CIF Southern Section Track Field Divisional Finals at Moorpark High on May 11

The South Pasadena High School track and field team will be well-represented at the CIF Southern Section Track & Field Divisional Finals at Moorpark High on May 11.
Fifteen Tigers will be competing in among a pool of Division III athletes in Saturday’s final following standout performances at the prelims held at Yorba Linda High on May 4.
South Pasadena senior Mia Holden was the top qualifier for the Tigers. The UCLA commit will be competing for four CIF girls’ titles. Individually, Holden will race in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, and will be part of the 4×100 and 4×400 girls’ relay races.
Tigers junior Jacqueline Sides will be vying for three CIF crowns, joining Holden in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays and racing individually in the 400.
South Pasadena junior Abigail Errington, senior Keeran Murray, junior Peter Dickinson and junior Avery Taylor will each be competing in two events. Murray will be part of the boys’ 4×400 relay team and compete individually in the 800, while Errington will be taking part in the girls’ 1,600 and 3,200 races. Taylor will race in the girls’ 100 and 300 hurdle events, and Dickinson will compete in the boys’ 300 hurdles and be part of the 4×400 relay race.
South Pasadena senior Lyla Keller and sophomore Naya Holden will be part of the 4×100 girls’ relay team, while junior Perri Koo and freshman Kara Wang will race in the 4×400 girls’ relay event. For the boys, freshman Dylan Revuelta and junior Logan Vargas will both team up for the 4×400. Meanwhile, junior Saidbh Byrne will race in the girls’ 3,200.
In the field, senior Simone Assaf and Junior Kezia Gavlak will both be competing for the long jump title.
The 15 fastest times in each gender at the divisional finals will be qualified for the Masters Meet on Saturday, May 18, at Moorpark High.
